Emergency Missions Ministry

Mission Statement

We assist those in our community who are in need by providing financial assistance with bills of necessity to avoid serious illness, homelessness, injury or death. We do this according to the mandate outlined in the Gospel of Matthew 25:35-36:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Committee

The Emergency Missions Committee consists of six (6) members who meet the first three (3) Tuesdays of each month at 12:30 p.m.  Additionally, any church member can meet and participate in the interview process upon signing a confidentiality form.

Whom Do We Serve?

Ten persons are seen by the committee each week, and persons seeking assistance must either have a disconnection notice for assistance with utilities or an eviction notice if they are requesting assistance with rent.  Due to budget limitations, persons with large requests may receive a portion of the amount requested and will be referred to other agencies in the city for additional help.

Funding

Funds for this Ministry are provided by the church budget, individual donations, and G. W. Holland, Inc. if available.

Please contact the Church Office at (336) 722-5605 to request assistance.
